Travel: III: Student Travel Award for IEEE/ACM Conference on Connected Health (CHASE 2026)

National Science Foundation

Description

This award is to support student travel and participation in the 2026 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Conference on Connected Health: Applications, Systems, Engineering Technologies (CHASE), in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. CHASE is a leading international conference in the field of connected health and aims at offering a unique opportunity for researchers worldwide to exchange innovative ideas and develop collaborations. This award particularly provides a scientific forum for students with strong potential in computing and engineering research within the multidisciplinary field of connected health. CHASE offers opportunities for students to receive networking support, as well as research and career advice from internationally recognized experts, while exposing them to emerging advances at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and biomedical technologies. This award supports approximately 20 U.S.-based students through a live Student Research Forum focused on encouraging students to examine technologies from multiple perspectives and understand how innovative technology, advanced analytics, persuasive computing, and biomedical expertise can be integrated to maximize impact. Through participation in technical sessions and panels, students gain exposure to cutting-edge developments in AI-driven health analytics, digital health systems, and data-enabled biomedical research, thereby strengthening their ability to contribute to advances in artificial intelligence and biotechnology. Interactions with leaders from academia, industry, and federal agencies further enhance their understanding of real-world applications and translational impact. In addition, the Career Panel enables students to explore diverse career pathways in these rapidly evolving AI fields and AI-enabled biotechnology. Overall, the CHASE conference fosters interdisciplinary thinking and equips students with the knowledge and perspective needed to advance next-generation innovations in connected health. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
