Research Opportunities in Crisis Response Services for Suicide Prevention
National Institutes of HealthDescription

The National Institute of Mental Health intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for research examining the effectiveness and implementation of crisis response practices, approaches to improve the quality and outcomes of crisis response interventions, and the impact of state and local policy. Research is sought that is conducted in real-world settings, where a wide range of clinical presentations, psychosocial factors, age-related characteristics (e.g., youth, adult, older adult), geographic context (rural/remote settings), and health disparities influence the types of care that are provided. Studies are encouraged that address the continuum of crisis service systems. Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO will utilize the R01 activity code. Investigators with expertise in crisis response interventions for suicide prevention are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this NOFO. In addition, collaborative teams of investigators combining expertise in crisis response, suicide prevention, health systems research, and clinical trials research methods will be encouraged, and these investigators should also consider applying for this NOFO.
