NICHD: SERVICES: REPOSITORY FOR NUMOM2B COLLECTION SPECIMENS
Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human DevelopmentDescription
The NuMoM2b study was a prospective observational study of over 10,000 nulliparous women followed from the first trimester through delivery with the goal to understand the mechanism and etiology of adverse pregnancy outcomes starting in the first trimester. Because no information is available from previous pregnancy outcomes to guide assignment of risk or mitigating interventions, adverse pregnancy outcomes in nulliparas are especially unpredictable. NuMoM2b enrolled 10,000 participants, was completed in September of 2013, and the last participant delivered May 2014. All study participants underwent serial evaluations including demographics, nutrition, family history, maternal anthropometric measurements, medical history, assessments of psychosocial factors, ultrasound measures of fetal growth, placental function (uterine artery Doppler) and biospecimen collection (maternal serum, plasma, urine, cervical/vaginal samples, placenta at delivery). In addition to the specimens for the original study, the NuMoM2b specimen collection contains a total of approximately 48,830 DNA specimens (5 aliquots each from 9,766 subjects at approximately 50ng/uL). This Task Order requires continued storage for samples from the NuMom2b study. This task order requires repository services for approximately 838,132 human biospecimens such as Amniotic Fluid, Cervicovaginal Fluid, Neonatal Saliva, Placenta etc. generated in this study.
