The Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast Act of 2012 (RESTORE Act) allocates 80% of the Clean Water Act (CWA) administrative and civil penalties from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund. These funds are distributed to Gulf Coast states, including Florida, for ecosystem restoration, economic recovery, and tourism promotion. The funding is divided into five components: Direct Component, Council-Selected Restoration Component, Spill Impact Component, Science Program, and Centers of Excellence Research Grants.
