Conference: Trustworthy Foundation Models for Emerging Networked Systems
U.S. National Science FoundationDescription
AI, especially the widely used foundation models have reshaped modern networked computing infrastructures, facilitating emerging applications that benefit people’s daily lives. On the other side, AI introduces critical challenges related to AI trustworthiness, including robustness, security, privacy, interpretability, safety, resource efficiency, and reliability under practical, dynamic, and adversarial environments. There is critical need to establish scientific foundation for AI enabled future networking systems that ensure trustworthy operation across heterogeneous environments. This proposal seeks funding to support travel expenses and logistic costs for the NSF Workshop on Trustworthy Foundation Models for Emerging Networked Systems, scheduled for 2027. The workshop is an by invitation-only interdisciplinary event that will bring together researchers from academia and government across AI/ML, networking, wireless communications, robotics, edge computing, and cybersecurity. The workshop will feature keynote talks, lightning presentations, panel discussions, and roundtable sessions designed to encourage interactive discussion and collaboration. Requested funding will primarily support participant travel from U.S. institutions to broaden participation and foster sustained interdisciplinary engagement on trustworthy AI technologies for future networked systems. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
