Conference: Student and Junior Faculty Support for the International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology (ISSST) 2026

This award will provide partial support for the 2026 International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology. The symposium will bring together experts from different fields to better understand and solve complex sustainability challenges. The symposium will include disciplines such as engineering, social science, and natural science. It will cover topics related to food systems, energy systems, critical infrastructure, and science communication. It will bring together students, early-career researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers. Participants will share ideas and learn from one another. Participants will help identify effective approaches to solve sustainability challenges. The 2026 International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology will focus on advancing interdisciplinary research and education in sustainability. The award will help support participation by students and early career researchers across the United States. The event will be organized around seven key thematic areas: (1) agroecology, industrial ecology, and the bioeconomy; (2) human dimensions of sustainability (3) sustainability and resilience of energy systems; (4) sustainability and resilience of infrastructure systems; (5) sustainability education and communication; (6) innovative tools and methods in life cycle and sustainability analysis; and (7) other creative sustainability-related topics to bring new methods and ideas that demonstrate unique partnerships, big ideas, and perspectives. The Symposium will host oral presentations and a poster session to share research, technical workshops to build new skills, and professional development activities to prepare the future workforce. The Symposium is expected to generate new research directions and strengthen interdisciplinary networks.
