Description
The workshop ''Facets Complex Differential Geometry" will take place at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, on May 15-16, 2026. The event will showcase recent research in the general area of complex differential geometry, emphasizing the wide range of directions and techniques employed in the field. Its expected impact lies in the dissemination of recent and ongoing research. It will also provide an excellent opportunity for researchers with different areas of expertise to interact and initiate new collaborations. The small size and interactive environment are ideal for fostering multi-level interactions among graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty. Complex differential geometry is a deep-rooted field undergoing rapid advances across several subareas. The workshop will highlight recent progress in Kahler geometry as well as adjacent areas of Hermitian, almost-Kahler, and Sasakian geometry. Talks will cover both the compact and non-compact settings and will span a broad range of topics, including moduli spaces of Kahler metrics, Calabi-Yau manifolds, Kahler-Ricci solitons, Hermitian non-Kahler geometry, almost-Kahler geometry, and Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. These areas draw on techniques from complex analysis, differential geometry, and algebraic geometry; the most significant insights often emerge where these perspectives intersect. The organizers aim to bring together researchers with expertise in all these areas to facilitate new research directions through collaborative projects. The conference website will feature the titles and abstracts of the talks. After the event, the presentation slides will be made available online on the workshop's webpage https://sites.google.com/view/shanks-fcdg/home. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
