Conference: 2026 Redbud Topology Conference

National Science Foundation

Description

This award provides support for two iterations of the Redbud Topology Conference. The first of which will be held April 10-12, 2026, at the University of Oklahoma, and the second one will be held in the Fall 2026 at the University of Arkansas. These events are part of an ongoing series of conferences held alternately at universities in Arkansas and Oklahoma, intended to increase interaction and collaboration among early career and senior mathematicians in these EPSCoR states and the surrounding area. The spring conference will feature prominent speakers from across North America, presenting their latest research, as well as a graduate student workshop. The 2026 Redbud Topology Spring Conference will focus on the homology of moduli spaces broadly construed. This includes the group homology of mapping class groups, outer automorphisms of free groups, and arithmetic groups. This conference will feature research talks by Corey Bregman (Tufts University), Jeremy Miller (Purdue University), Nick Salter (University of Notre Dame), Rodrigo De Pool (University of Notre Dame), Nir Gadish (University of Pennsylvania), Alex Margolis (Wesleyan University), Dan Minahan (University of Chicago), Urshita Pal (University of Michigan), and Jennifer Wilson (University of Michigan); the first three speakers listed will give additional expository talks in a preliminary graduate student workshop session. The Fall meeting will take place at the University of Arkansas on a date to be determined later. It will predominantly consist of talks by early-career mathematicians from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and surrounding states. More information is available at the conference website: https://redbud.math.ou.edu/spring-2026/. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
