Conference: 2026 NSF CyberTraining/SCIPE PI meeting

This project supports a two-day meeting for investigators funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) CyberTraining and Strengthening the Cyberinfrastructure Professionals Ecosystem (SCIPE) programs. The event will be held in conjunction with the NSF Cyberinfrastructure for Sustained Scientific Innovation (CSSI) program meeting. The PI meeting will advance the missions of the CyberTraining and SCIPE programs by providing a dedicated forum to share research progress and experiences in training cyberinfrastructure (CI) professionals, exchange best practices in training CI professionals amongst the CyberTraining and SCIPE communities, and highlight the significance of CI professional development to colleagues from the CSSI program. The meeting will also create opportunities for collaboration to advance the training of CI professionals within the CyberTraining and SCIPE communities, as well as with the CSSI community. The two-day meeting brings together investigators supported by the National Science Foundation CyberTraining and SCIPE programs to share innovations and best practices for training cyberinfrastructure (CI) and SCIPE professionals among critical stakeholders across the CyberTraining, SCIPE, and CSSI communities. These interactions will support the continued development of CI and SCIPE professionals, who will go on to advance, deploy, and utilize the nation's CI resources and services, thereby accelerating research in science and engineering and furthering the impact of NSF support, including the Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure programs. Through a carefully developed meeting program that critically evaluates national priorities, the team will provide direction and recommendations for the CyberTraining and SCIPE programs. To realize these outcomes, the PI meeting must encourage formal and informal interactions, encourage participants to share critical insights that can be translated into recommendations, and feature keynote speakers who connect individual program efforts to the nation's CI ecosystem. This meeting will achieve these outcomes by implementing highly interactive programming and activities and by encouraging participants in small-group discussions to submit written reports. A final report summarizing these outcomes will be disseminated through public archival services and advertised to participants and the broader scientific community. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
