Community Engagement and Outreach Core

(Community Engagement and Outreach Core) The ultimate impact of precision rehabilitation is in its ability to improve the lives of people directly in our communities. This necessitates the ability to translate and disseminate precision rehabilitation research and resources broadly throughout the rehabilitation community. The Precise Center Community Engagement and Outreach core will support these activities by building a learning community that advances precision rehabilitation research, develops and shares resources, and establishes a framework for translation of precision rehabilitation research to clinical practice. Effective community engagement and outreach is informed by broad stakeholder engagement. In Aim 1, the Precise Center Community Engagement and Outreach core will establish a Stakeholder Engagement Council and develop a community engagement plan. The Stakeholder Engagement Council will include persons with lived experience, family members and caregivers, clinicians, researchers, technology developers, and health informatics specialists. Our community engagement plan will be developed and implemented with Stakeholder Engagement Council input guided by a participatory action research model. Precision rehabilitation community engagement and outreach also require broad reach to all rehabilitation stakeholders. In Aim 2, the Precise Center Community Engagement and Outreach core will provide a national resource to support clinicians and researchers in developing precision rehabilitation capacity. This will involve 1) building and maintaining an interactive website that will serve as a portal, interface, and archive for the precision rehabilitation community to access resources, learning opportunities and outreach activities, 2) hosting a national meeting on precision rehabilitation, 3) creating an Precision Rehabilitation Early Stage Investigators Program, and 4) presenting quarterly webinars and/or tutorials to share precision rehabilitation research findings and feature new resources. The Precise Center website will be the central hub for dissemination of the center’s communications and resources, and it will also provide an avenue for clinicians, researchers, persons with lived experience, and other stakeholders interested in precision rehabilitation to interact directly with the Precise Center. Continuous oversight and updating are also needed to ensure effective community engagement and outreach. In Aim 3, the Precise Center Community Engagement and Outreach core will conduct ongoing evaluations of the Precise Center community engagement plan to assess utilization and impact while ensuring access across stakeholder groups. We will use an established evaluation model to evaluate each Precise Center component and monitor milestone achievement. Ongoing evaluation will ensure we are reaching our intended community. These evaluations will occur via close collaboration between the Steering Committee, External Advisory Board, and Stakeholder Engagement Council.
