Community Development Block Grant Disaster Response Program

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity

Description

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Response Program, administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), provides funds to assist communities experiencing an imminent and urgent threat to public health and safety as indicated by a Gubernatorial Disaster Declaration. The program is federally funded by HUD and aims to meet one of three national objectives: benefiting low-to-moderate income (LMI) persons, aiding in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight, or meeting other urgent community development needs. Funds are available on an as-needed basis to eligible units of local government.
